2005 P2P biodiesel fuel support

Date: September 2005

Description: This project inspired and funded the P2P local Chapel Hill bus system to switch to an eco-friendly biodiesel fuel system.  Both environmental and economic benefits made the decision to switch from standard diesel fuel to biodiesel fuel necessary.  Biodiesel fuel reduces the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.  This helps contribute to a better living environment for ecology to grow and thrive.

Allocation amount: $1,685

Benefits to students and UNC: A switch like this for a major bus system at the University allows for energy savings, avoided costs, and better emissions with a lesser impact on outdoor conditions.  Signs on the interior of the bus indicating it is running on biodiesel educate students and help preserve the environment.
