Description: In the summer of 2010, RESPC commissioned the creation of the EcoReps program by extending stipends to support its student coordinators. Initially intended to connect interested first-year students and provide introductions to UNC’s sustainable programs and practices, EcoReps has since evolved into a sub-group of the Student Government’s Environmental Affairs Committee.
Allocation amount: $1,500
Benefits to students and UNC: Benefits to UNC: EcoReps provide campus-wide peer-to-peer outreach in support of UNC Chapel Hill’s many sustainable practices, programs, and options. By engaging students in sustainability, the EcoReps program is helping to make environmental awareness part of the Carolina Way and teaching Tarheels how to minimize their impact in daily activities.
